• Service for Citizens

  We provide 24-hour security service by operating 112 dialing centers to report crimes promptly.

  In addition, we promote various services for public welfare in accordance with provincial and seasonal peculiarities such as launching campaigns to protect neighbor in need, leading teenagers to the right way, supplying manpower for farming and restoration work for flood sufferers.

• Preventing Crime and Promoting Human Rights

  To cope with crimes that are becoming various, intellectual and widespread day by day, the Korean National Police Agency as a inspection service center is making effort to prevent crime by developing scientific inspection service techniques, expending the state-of-the-art equipments and consolidating crime statistics system. As a result, Korea became one of the safest countries in the world.

  And we are encouraging citizens to participate in community activities for crime prevention and leading the private guard businesses in cooperation with them. In addition, we are playing a crucial role in protecting human rights in Korea.

• Traffic Control for Smooth and Safe Transportation

  The number of vehicles in Korea is over 15,000,000, and the number of those who have driver's license is about 22,000,000. Automobiles became the most important vehicle. In this respect, we are doing our best to administer and control the traffic to relieve the congestion of traffic for drivers' conveniences. And we are also making efforts for people to enjoy traffic safety by imposing regulations rigidly and conducting guidance activities.

• Securing Social Stabilization and Maintaining Law and Order

  We are making efforts to protect national security from the illegal movement to overthrow our democracy and capitalistic economy system. In addition, we have tried to maintain social order for peaceful life of citizens. We also have successfully completed the security mission during the Third Asia-Europe Meeting held in Seoul from October 19 to 21, 2000, making our strong security system known to the world.

• Cracking down International Crimes

  The current crimes are becoming more internationalized, organized and widespread in spite of the powerful countermove and rigid regulation of every country. As the telecommunication technology and information system are more advanced, the terrors and other crimes became more highly shrewd that it is hard for individual country to prevent them effectively.

  Therefore, we have intensified international cooperation and exchanged the information with other nations to successfully crack down on these borderless crimes.
